Xbox Fitness delivers the best home fitness experience right on your Xbox One console. Choose from a wide variety of workouts to fit your personal tastes and abilities.
Receive feedback on your performance to optimize your workouts with advanced Kinect tracking. Stay motivated and encourage friendly competition with workout and drill challenges and interaction with friends.
The simplest way to find and install Xbox Fitness on your Xbox One console is to perform a Bing search for Xbox Fitness. Select the correct result, and then follow the on-screen prompts to install the game.
Xbox Fitness requires an Xbox Live account to download and install the game. An Xbox Live account is required for purchases.
To create an Xbox Live account and select your Xbox Fitness subscription options, simply launch the game. From the Home screen, follow the game prompts to select your account and subscription types.
Xbox Fitness is free to all Xbox Live members with an internet connection through June 2017.
You can navigate through Xbox Fitness using voice commands and gestures via the Kinect sensor or use the standard Xbox One controller.
To change options, switch profiles and view help, from any screen, click the View button.
From the Options screen, you can adjust many features:
The first time you launch Xbox Fitness, or whenever there has been an update to Xbox Fitness, you will see the Xbox Fitness News page. After closing the window, you will be able to view the Xbox Fitness Home screen. The Xbox Fitness News page helps you stay up-to-date on what’s going on in Xbox Fitness, from new challenges, trainer tips, and content, to sales on content and new features.
The Home screen allows you to access most of the features and is your primary navigation system. Use the Home screen to easily launch a workout, view promotions, access the Content Library, view your profile, view the Xbox Fitness News page again, and read your messages.
The Promotional tile cycles through promotions and content recommendations. Select this tile to see available promotions and recommendations, as well as new and premium content.
Your Content Library is where all workouts and programs are located. Workouts are sorted and filtered in multiple ways so that you can easily find a workout to meet your needs, including sorting and filtering based on what is currently available to you, what you may like, what has been recently played, all programs, and more.
Workouts that you already own or are currently available to you, are identified in the library via the Unlocked filter (to the right of the Featured Content filter). Select a workout/program to view its details and your performances in the workout(s), as applicable.
Workouts and/or programs that you have purchased can be downloaded to your Xbox One console. Within the details of a workout or program that you have purchased, you will be able to see a "Content Options" button. When you click this button, you will be able to view all the options for that content. If you choose to download content, you must download the entire program.
Each workout has an icon located in the lower right-hand corner of the video tile which indicates whether the workout is available for streaming or if it has been downloaded to your console. If you see an icon with a cloud and play button, this indicates the workout is currently available for streaming.
Once you’ve downloaded content to your console, the icon in the lower right-hand corner of the downloaded video’s tile will change to a console icon and a play button. The description in the Content Options screen will also indicate whether or not the content has been downloaded.
The Messages tile cycles through your new messages, showing the most recent first. Select this tile to view all of your messages.
The Home screen has two different types of profile areas: the User Profile in the upper-right corner of the screen and the Fitness Profile tile in the lower-right corner.
The User Profile shows which user is currently logged in, as well as their current Loyalty Card rank and rank title.
The Fitness Profile tile in the lower-right corner opens up your Fitness Profile, where you can view your Workout History, Progress, and FitPoints. The Workout History includes statistics for every day and month that you’ve worked out, as well as details about every workout you’ve ever completed. Xbox Fitness displays two FitPoint values within your Fitness Profile: Lifetime FitPoints ( ) and monthly FitPoints ( ) from only completed workouts/sessions.
The Progress screen shows your progress toward your current Loyalty Card, Achievements and all Session Challenges.
A Kinect sensor is not required to play Xbox Fitness. For an optimized experience, using Xbox Fitness with an Xbox One Kinect sensor is recommended. Some features may not be available without a Kinect sensor.
In the upper-right corner of the screen, next to the User Profile icon, you will see an icon that indicates whether or not you currently have Kinect enabled. If you do not have a Kinect sensor plugged into your console, you will automatically be in a "Kinect disabled" state. You will see the Kinect icon throughout Xbox Fitness whenever you encounter a feature that requires Kinect.
Throughout the Help Files, an asterisk (*) indicates features that are available only when a Kinect is enabled.
During every workout, you’ll be able to see many different data types to track your performance.
When you select a workout or program from the library, you’re presented with details about the workout or program.
On every Workout Details screen, three similar workouts are displayed to the right in "Related Content." Select the ellipses (…) to be taken to a filtered list of more similar workouts.
During a workout, the timeline shows where you are in the workout and the name and length of the current drill.
While you are working out, the Picture-in-Picture (PiP) window shows your silhouette and provides feedback on how you’re performing.
With Xbox One, your pulse is continually calculated via the Kinect sensor. This allows your heart rate to be monitored throughout the workout and can be displayed on-screen during the session. Heart rate monitoring requires the Xbox One Kinect sensor.
You earn a score and FitPoints for each drill in a workout, represented and tallied in the final Session Score for the workout. Drills are tracked and scored in various ways based on the drill type.
Each drill score is converted to a five-star rating system*. Your Drill Rating, Session Score and additional workout performance information are shown during the Workout Celebration.
The amount of FitPoints you can earn in a workout without Kinect enabled are relative to the duration and the difficulty of the workout you are completing.
When Kinect is enabled, you have the potential to earn more FitPoints in a workout than you would if Kinect were not enabled as the scoring system will take into account duration and difficulty, as well as other factors such as form, speed, power, muscle engagement and more.
Your Loyalty Card is a virtual punch card that fills up based on your completion of challenges.
During the Workout Celebration that appears after each workout, stamps based on your challenge completion are applied to your Loyalty Card.
Using score comparisons can help give your performance context and targets. Score comparisons are displayed graphically throughout Xbox Fitness to compare your performance to that of your friends and/or the community.
If you are using Xbox Fitness without a Kinect enabled, FitPoints earned will not be included in the community scores shown. The scores of your Xbox Live friends will reflect the score your friend has earned, with or without Kinect.
When you complete a workout, the screen transitions to a variety of screens detailing aspects of your performance. These include workout highlights, heart rate information, a score tally, challenges completed, stamps earned, star rating and Fitness Points earned.
To provide you with even more motivation, Xbox Fitness offers two types of challenges: Drill Challenges and Session Challenges.
Drill Challenges appear at random intervals during a workout and are associated with specific drills within that workout. During the workout, these challenges appear at the bottom of your screen and indicate a competition between you and your personal best, an Xbox Live friend, or even the average for your age group. Drill challenges persist for the entire drill or until you’ve won the challenge.
At the beginning of each workout, you automatically receive three unique Session Challenges. Session Challenges are associated with individual workouts and tailored to each workout. During a workout, you’re notified any time that you complete a Session Challenge.
Session Challenges persist between workouts. When you complete a Session Challenge, the next challenge for that workout is unlocked. Session Challenges are shown in purple boxes to differentiate them from other challenges.
If you are using Xbox Fitness without Kinect enabled, some session challenges will not be available to you. The session challenges that are available to you will be in purple boxes. Gray session challenges marked with the Kinect icon, as well as a lock icon, are only available to those using an Xbox One Kinect sensor.
Stay up-to-date on your friends’ Xbox Fitness activity as well as any promotions that are available using the Messages tile on the Home screen. Select the tile to see all of your current messages or to send cheers to your friends.
The Xbox Fitness leaderboards allow you to see how you stack up against your Xbox Live friends and the Xbox Fitness community.
The LEADERBOARDS tile in the lower-right corner of the Home screen opens up the Xbox Fitness leaderboards, where you can view how you rank among your friends or the community. This tile contains your lifetime FitPoints.
Select the Friends leaderboard in the Select Leaderboard dropdown menu to see how you stack up against your Xbox Live friends. If you have Xbox Live Friends, this will be the default leaderboard.
Choose the Community leaderboard to see how you compare to everyone playing Xbox Fitness. Select MY RANK to view your position on the leaderboards. At the bottom of each page, you’ll see how many FitPoints are needed for you to rank on the leaderboard (if your Gamertag is not currently listed). Only the top 10,000 players are currently listed in the Community leaderboards.
Within the leaderboards, you can click on another user’s Gamertag to view their Xbox Live profile, add them as a friend, and more.
