Multiplayer experience
Play with your friends in the ruthless and critically acclaimed multiplayer experience. Choose from an eclectic cast of characters from the Golden Age of Pirates and fight to the death in exotic locations.
Second Screen
Access the second screen experience with your external device to view your game progression, access the West Indies map while playing, and view your treasure map collection. You can also play Kenway’s Fleet while you’re on the go to gain even more rewards.
You need to be connected to Uplay and your second screen device to access this feature.
To view the single-player in-game manual, press the button to access the Pause menu, select Database, and then select E-Manual. To view the multiplayer in-game manual from the Main Menu, Press to reach the Options and Data hub, select Animus Database, and select How to Play.
In the main menu, use QUICK MATCH to join directly into an available random session.
Use CUSTOM MATCH to choose the specific Game Mode you want, and play with Search Session.
Select TRAINING then select the training session you want to launch. You can also view some Training Videos which will show you how all of the abilities are used.
Select WOLFPACK to play cooperatively with other players. In the Wolfpack mode selection screen, select DISCOVERY to learn about the Wolfpack experience, with a sequence of predefined missions in a specific order. Select UNLEASHED and the map you wish to play on to enjoy the full Wolfpack experience. Select Public or Private depending if you want to play with friends or with any other players.
Select GAME LAB to create your very own game mode based on the existing game mode templates. Select ‘Edit Parameters’ and you can change over 200 parameters to craft and tweak as your desire. You can play your created modes with friends through the Private option or if you select Public you will find the most popular player created modes that have been selected by the development team in a Public Playlist.
Playground (accessible only via Custom Match / Private) is an area you can use to practice with different abilities. XP, Abstergo credits and Challenges are not available in Playground.
Uplay Account
A Uplay Account is required to access the full single-player connected experience and the multiplayer game modes. You can link your Xbox Live account to a new or existing Uplay Account after having launched the game or by going to the Uplay button in the main menu.
To unlink your Xbox Live account from a Uplay account, please go to account.uplay.com
Uplay passport
Activate your Uplay Passport to get access to the full single-player connected experience, all the multiplayer abilities and customization items without any restrictions and to unlock an exclusive character. If your Uplay Passport code is missing, or it has been redeemed, you can buy a new one in the Xbox Store.
The Uplay Passport is written on the back of the flyer in the game box. Make sure you activate it to get rewards!

Limited Mode (Multiplayer)
If you are in Limited mode you will not be able to use any features that require you to be connected to Ubisoft services and your most recent actions may not have been kept. You can use the Go Online option in the main menu to attempt to reconnect.
You may be in Limited mode for the following reasons:
- The Ubisoft services may be down for server maintenance.
- There may be a problem with your internet connection.
- Xbox Live access is disabled on your Xbox Live profile due to parental control restrictions.
- You do not have Xbox Live Gold membership.
Possible solutions to remove Limited mode:
- Check your internet connection is functioning correctly.
- Modify the parental controls in your Xbox Live profile if you are the profile holder.
- Purchase an Xbox Live Gold membership.
